Hi everybody. Thought I'd get all the Kansas jokes out of the way at the beginning.
I'm a medical social worker and a freelance writer, so I get to experience two very different work environments. The first is at a not-for-profit hospice with a strong commitment to teamwork. The administrator is smart and actually listens to her employees. I keep expecting her to be torn away by a tornado (another Kansas joke) and replaced by a mindless drone, but so far she's resisted other job offers and hung in there with our little company.
The second work environment, as a freelance writer, is a hodgepodge of all different kinds of employers. Some are great to work with. Others you want to wish back to the era of the Spanish inquisition. But after working my butt off, the pay is finally starting to be decent, and I do love to write, so I soldier on.
