Default Training someone

What would your reaction be if your supervisor told you, you weren't qualified to be promoted into a dept. head position but then asked you to train the person they actually did promote?

I would just refuse to train them on the grounds that I'm not qualified

Do you mean before or after I strangled the supervisor?

Oh, INSTEAD OF. In that case, I like Joel007's answer.

This actually happened to me and I refused to train them. They actually understood. But I got the last laugh though because this person did a terrible job, sorry but she was not at all qualified, and I ended up with the position.

I too would refuse to train them...if you aren't qualified for the position, how can you be qualified to train someone for the position?

There is justice in an imperfect world after all. But, what if not training that person led to dismissal?

Well, having agreed to train them, I would do my best. You never know, being the person who trained your boss could well be an advantage later on

Not to mention that you'd owe it to the new person to give them the best chance at success, even if you don't feel like it.
