old laptop put to good use by networking to main computer

I have an old laptop that I hope to put to use by networking it to my main computer. I would really like to see the screen of my main computer on my laptop. Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible. You need to set up the network with the laptop as the master and the main computer linked to is as a slave.

I was looking into the same thing, Duck. I found a few sites that offered computer people who will do it for you over the phone. Networking is a bit too techy for me.

I'm kind of a do-it-yourselfer so I'll probably avoid hiring someone to do it. Anyone know of any good sites so that I can learn how to do it myself?

Type it in to a search engine. You can also look on Associated Content and Ehow.

So what is Ehow? I stumbled apon some video tutorial site which will probably have what I'm looking for, figure I'll try it out.

duck, are you just trying to use the screen of the laptop as a second monitor? That isn't networking, per se.

That's what I was thinking, I've honestly never known anyone who wanted to use the laptop screen as a second monitor....I've known plenty who wanted to use a monitor in place of the laptop screen...

Ehow is an internet site with many do-it-yourself ideas.
