I think it is a protocol for IT people to ask the whether you've done the primary troubleshooting procedures before calling them. When I was still a newbie (actually, still a newbie until now), I get so frustrated when the IT people seem to ignore my troubles that I am forced to work on it myself. It was only when I've learned some tricks that I appreciated what they've done. I still ask some help from time to time but I've learned a lot of things by doing the troubleshooting myself.

I hate the people that set something to print, and when it doesen't come out, they print it again, and again and again, and again. By the time they are finished there are 30 jobs on the printer, so when someone gets it to work, they all print.

I usually flush the print cue when I'm working on the printer, stops someone doing that. Not to mention that Its the print server itself that has to retry, and that's my computer
