Default Updating

Is it always a hassle for your office to update all their computers/software? The administrator in my office never seems to get around to it within a reasonable amount of time...I find it really annoying!

We use an outside service for our systems, which seems to work okay for us. He routinely notifies us when updates are ready and schedules time to come out and do what he needs to do with our server and/or our desktops. All in all, no big hassle for us.

Ugh, I wish my office would do that! It's really frustrating when I can't access or download a file because a certain program isn't up-to-date. It causes way too much hassle.

I had this problem all the time at a credit union I used to work at. We still had to answer the calls, though, and sit through all the customer complaints that we couldn't access their info.

The joys of companies slowly squeezing the IT budget, eventually you will all be back to chalk and slate

Well a company which works with mine once hit the wrong update program and killed 80,000 computers at once... It took ages to sort that mess out

When there is not a regular IT department this can become a problem. It takes time out of someone else's day to work on the computer and the updates.
