Default Drive Failure

Let's say I bought a brand new flash drive. It worked initially and I put some files on it. Then, for some reason, I keep getting "drive read errors" and my computer refuses to recognize the drive. What could be causing the problem? This happened to me awhile back, and I got so frustrated I just returned the thing.

Did you check the manufacturer's site to see if you could reformat it? I've seen that do the trick, but like you, I'd be too frustrated.

Yep, I went to the manufacturer's website and tried just about everything. I don't even think I could get it to format!

Hi Fourbear,

That is, almost always, a hardware failure and your best bet is to replace the drive.

The data, however, is probably lost

Regards,

Jason
