Default Time Management Tips

Working from home, self-employed, as I have been for the past 6 years, sometimes I feel too lazy to work.

The couch is calling me - I want to go take a nap.

I know I have to be diligent, any tips?

Yes i have one. I think you should have set hours and a seprate place to work when its time to get something done. Build a office in the house and a pc thats just used for work. This has helped me sooo much. I waste less time and get way more done.

I find time management is a really big issue - because you know you basically have all day to work, I found myself too easily slipping into a casual work routine that put erverything off until late evening - and then I was too tired, so it got pushed to the next day. Repeat.

It was only after I had broadband problems and had to rent a room in a hotel nearby for a few hours each day was I suddenly shocked into realising how much I squandered time during the day.

I still have problems sometimes, but now I set up tasks to complete during the day and then try to stick to them. Once any task is done, I treat myself with a half hour of messing about online - then on to the next task.

You need to fix the time to everything.
For work, for friends and for your family. Since you work in home you do not need to worry about boss. So your habit goes totally sleepy. Try to be puntual to wake up. And then start other with a fix routine.

Default The Bills

As long as you pay the bills and meet deadline it means you're doing fine and you can nap the whole day, or there should something in what you are doing that should keep you on your toes.

It can be hard to manage time when working from home. It becomes easy to work irregular hours. For some people this is why they are self employed for the flexibility. This is ok as long as you get all your work done and done well.

Sometimes I have trouble keeping myself motivated. At those times, I either need to back off and give myself a break or "bull" on through the resistance and get on with the task at hand. Which I choose usually depends on how much work I have to do and when the deadlines are. But I do know it isn't easy to keep going once you've lost the drive.

I think it would be really helpful to make yourself a schedule each week. You may not follow it exactly, but it may help to see everything you need to do written down.

My biggest motivation is thinking about what it's like having to leave home to work. that thought right there keeps me on my toes.

I find creating a to-do list and actually trying to mark each item off gives me some motivation, unfortunately not enough some times.
