I don't like distractions like tv when I'm working, either. For me, there's work and there's breaks and tv is the latter. I like to make a distinction between working and entertainment because I don't get much benefit from either if the line between them is blurred.

Distractions always slow me down. I've tried to change but so far, I haven't been able to adapt.

Yes it is best to work clear of major distractions. You aren't likely to be watching a big screen tv at a corporate office and similar distractions should not be found in your home office.
