Default Best Compact Camera

I have a horrible, cheapy digital camera at the moment, and would like to get a new one. I would prefer a slim or compact model with a relatively high resolution. Could someone please provide some suggestions? I would prefer the price to be somewhat reasonable or justified

Hmm I think the question remains as of what is a justifiable price? I can see some at $100, while really good one at $500 and then....up

I'd say $500 is a pretty good cap, for now. I just found out that my father would like a digital camera for Christmas, so I'm really looking at these now.

mega pixel is the game and anti shake camera. next is the SD card 1 gb is good 256 is good for pictures not for movie. Do you want movie? Do you want sound? auto focus? and the list goes on. Slim are nice but battery are li-tion $50 replacement or AAA battery $2? my dream camera is cassio ex-z1000. 10.1 mega pixel auto focus anti shacke and takes SD cards. Battery are rechargeable so be aware of fully charged battery buy for $229+tax refurbished. cannot get better then that. New $400+tax. size about 0.75 x 4" . cheap SANSUNG plastic 6 mega @ wall mart $99 waist of money.

Things that I see as essential: decent mega pixels, anti-shake, bigger SD cards, ability to take at least short videos. Rechargable batteries are definitely a plus. Auto focus not necessary (I actually don't like it for some reason).

And since then, have you found any cameras that are to your liking or are you still looking around?

Anything here of interest?

The Coolpix, Easyshare, and Powershot ones are especially popular.

I'm still looking around and weighing my options, Slashmire. I think the Powershot may be decent...or perhaps the Coolpix. What do you think?

Are you sure you're even serious about it? I mean if it's been a month and you aven't read about brands, then maybe it's just some sort of idea rather than actually wanting it.
