Default Dell battery recall

Anyone else see Dell is recalling over 4.1 million batteries from the last 3 years? I just bought a Dell a few months ago and am not sure if my battery is included, but 4.1 million has to cover most of their laptop units in the last few years, one would assume.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday, quite a big number; yet it's nice to know that Dell didn't hide that fact and decided to go with the massive recall.

I am still trying to find out to see if I qualify for the recall. I have not seen any information on Dell's site on how to check it out. Does anyone know?

Well, I assume that Dell's won't be the one to put in the front of the page with bright lights and shiny borders

I am still trying to find out what I need to do for this. I have two dells sitting in my room both charging on batteries and I am sitting here waiting for them to burst into flames at any moment.

If you had them for a year and they never overheat, then you're all good. If you're still unsure of what to do, simply call Dell's customer service.

Interesting enough the battery recall is sony's fault. Apparently Sony makes the batteries for Dell. They say it may cost Sony $200-$400 million dollars. Since they plan on making $860 million dollars in profit this year, though, it is not the end of the world.

Very disturbing.

I'm sure that many people in Dell's office as well as Sony's are getting "rid" of people who cost them this recall. Sony probably looked at how the problem got past the QA and Dell's must also be looking at how those said parts were accepted by their internal QA.

Anyone here now that Apple is recalling 1.4 million batteries for their notebooks?

Seems like it is an epidemic.
