If it were me, I would take it. You can do it in a way that will not make you employes hate you.

I was a superviser and I got along really well with my team. But I will say that to me is was not worth it in the sense that it was a very stressful job and that took alot of the enjoyment away for me.

I have yet to find a situation where being a manage was worth the extra headaches associated with it. There's not enough money in the world for me to put up with tension from those I supervise and those who supervise me.

I have to agree, the extra responsibility and crap you've got to take just doesn't seem worth it. I've been a supervisor on several different occasions and although I put my all into each job, I simply wasn't happy being the one to dole out orders and scold people. Or the one taking the fall for other person's mess-ups b/c I was the manager on duty.

Years ago I worked as a phlebotomist in a blood bank and would be the supervisor in the evenings about twice a month. Acouple of time I got chewed for not allowing someone to donate blood but, luckily, got backed up by the doctor on call from the evening in question.

Dealing with the sheer stupidity of some middle management types cured me of being placed in positions where second guessing my decisions became the way others tried to assert their authority.

I resisted taking a manager's job in retail for the simple reason I could make more in less hours and be happier.
