Default Canon Powershot A80 - something I noticed

I always thought sometimes the camera can take really bad pics in low light.

But when I take pics, I always used the half press -> focus -> full press method.

I found out instead of holding it half way to focus, if i just press the button the picture comes out a lot better !

Can anyone explain why this is the case ?

I think you are not giving the light meeter to synch and are thus fooling the camera to let in as much light as possible.. just my guess...

no actually when i press the half press and let it focus of course the picture comes in a lot better. do you mean that you press it and just keep it pressed down completely until it takes the picture?

Maybe the time when you try to keep it half pressed and let it forcus, you hand is having tremors. SO the pic comes bad when you do that instead of taking it fast.

I've done it where I did, indeed, just hold down the button and keep it held ...it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't though lol. One of these days, I've got the read the manual more closely.

Isn't that what you normally do when you open the box, and install it for the first time, you sit down and read the manual?
