Unhappy Boss' pay for boss' work?

If I'm doing my boss' job for a week, should I get his pay for a week?

Seriously though, it annoys me when I have to do someone else's job for my money. Not to mention that while I'm covering for him I'm also expected to get my own work done, no excuses. It would be great to get some kind of compensation other than complaints that I've fallen behind on my work.
What do you all think?

I wish it was like that at more places of employment but sadly it isn't. I did work at a company that if you covered for your boss you got a little more per hour for doing it but not what they got paid. But at least it was something more. But not many places do this that I am aware of.

I think you can say that you don't have the time to take on the extra load without sounding insubordinate.

Well technically I'm the next in line for the job, and it needs to be done. The work I'm doing should really be put on hold to deal with the more difficult and urgent stuff. But still, they do expect me to get two people's work done and no compensation.
I'll do the work of two people if they give me his play plus mine
